North Wales estate agent helps fight crime

An estate agent is doing its bit for law and order in north Wales.

Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents has thrown its support behind one of their members of staff, who is a special constable.

The company has signed up to North Wales Police's ‘Time Out' initiative, which gives special constables more flexibility in their working hours.

Thanks to Dafydd Hardy joining the scheme Barry Davies, who works in their Caernarfon office and has been a special constable for two years, will now be able to spend more time during the week pounding his beat on the Llyn Penisular.

Co-director of the award-winning estate agent, Dafydd Hardy, said they were delighted to help out such a worthwhile scheme.

"All our staff give their time to various community based initiatives and we always try to help out wherever we can," said Dafydd.

"Barry is doing a fantastic job with his police work in Pwllheli and along the Llyn Penisular we're really proud of him are happy to offer him some support.

"He'll now be able to take more time off during the week to fulfil his special constable duties," Dafydd added.

Barry can usually be seen pounding the streets on a Friday and Saturday night, but the company's involvement in the Time Out initiative will enable him to volunteer his services during working hours."

The 41-year-old, who is a property valuer at Dafydd Hardy, which has offices across Gwynedd and Anglesey, thanked his employers.

"As soon as I mentioned the scheme to them they immediately signed-up to it, which was fantastic" Barry said.

Explaining what it meant to him and the police force the 41-year-old property valuer said: "Now I can go out on impact days or whenever there is a real need for more officers on the ground," he added.

The Time Out initiative aims to encourage employers to sponsor any employee who would like to volunteer by allowing them a specific amount of paid time off to help fulfil part of their special constabulary duties.
