2018... What a Year!

News at Dafydd Hardy | 28/12/2018

As we say goodbye to 2018, it is a great chance to reflect on the year that's been.

 January

After those New Year celebrations it was back to business as usual for the team. With the usual work taking place, there was time to arrange a ‘First Time Buyers’ event for the 15th. The turnout was great and it was an informative day for those looking to get onto the property ladder. Mortgage Advice Bureau were there to provide sound advice on securing a first time mortgage, while Tai Teg were also on hand to help provide sound and transparent advice.

Dafydd decided now would be a great time for people to go on a detox, so this month saw the delivery of fruit to all offices. I wonder how long the Dafydd Detox lasted before someone went for a takeaway! My guess is not very long.

February

On the 8th we hosted a Landlord’s Evening at our Bangor office. The purpose of this was to inform our landlords of the expected EPC changes, so along with Dafydd we had many guest speakers including the Mortgage Advice Bureaux and Mike Webb, an expert in the field. All seats for the event were filled, and it was great to see so many people showing up! This was a free opportunity for anyone to come along and learn a bit more.

This month brought North Wales a sprinkling of snow. Here's the back of our Bangor office as the snow falls.

March

Our Caernarfon team went all out in aid of our charity of the year, Mind! This month, on the Caernarfon Square, a special guest came just in honour of this exciting event. We are talking, of course, about the legendary Peppa Pig. It took a lot of persuading to get her to come but she agreed to it in the end!

There was a tombola and a raffle organised by our thoughtful team, who did a fantastic job of getting donations for such a wonderful cause. Many onlookers posed for photos with Peppa, and a lot of children were excited to see her. Some adults too.

April

This month ‘Ar Werth’ was on our screens; a TV show about life behind-the-scenes at Dafydd Hardy! We hope you all got a chance to tune in and experience life in this dynamic business.

The Bangor team continued the charitable giving by hosting an in-office quiz to raise more money for Mind. It was a competitive night but Julie’s Dragons were the victors of this prestigious event, claiming the prosecco prize. Well done!

May

We started this month by seeing Dafydd returned to our television screens once again, this time on Homes Under the Hammer on BBC1.
On May the 25th Dafydd Hardy was awarded ‘Business Person of the Year 2018’ at Gwynedd Business Network’s Gala Dinner. Well done, Dafydd!

July

Towards the end of July, we opened the doors to our new Llandudno Office. Luke Pollitt will be the new terriorty manager, catering to all of your buying, selling and letting needs. Exciting times are on the horizon, as we look forward to all the opportunities this new venture will create.

August

On the 4th of August our Min Y Don sales office was unveiled to the public. Our Land and New Homes Expert, Penny Lofts, was present to speak to visitors about these new luxury apartments. The opportunity to reserve these apartments was available, and as expected, there was a great deal of interest. This also fell upon the same day as the Menai Food Festival, so Menai Bridge was very busy!

On the 25th we had an open day for Sibrwd y Mor in Criccieth, and once again Penny was present to engage with attendees. We also had Rachel, from Mortgage Advice Bureau, on hand to advise those who might be interested in securing a mortgage. It was a great chance for people to view a show home and gauge an idea of what the development will look like upon completion.

On this same day, our new banner for Llandudno FC was unveiled at the Llandudno football ground. We are glad to be sponsoring such a great team and can't wait to see what the future holds for them.

September

This month, Land and New Homes Manager, Penny Lofts, attended an important conference. #WomenMeanBusiness where she got to hear all manner of influential speakers from businesses across the UK.

October

This month Macauley Morris joined our Llandudno team. He will be working alongside manager Luke to help with negotiations and viewings in the Conwy area. Welcome on board!

On the 24th October, we announced that we were three-time AllAgents winners and we are so thankful for all the support. This couldn’t have happened without the dedicated staff and wonderful customers who left thoughtful and positive reviews for us. We hope to continue our winning streak into 2019. This was a very proud day for us.

Bangor started supporting a charity called Jenga-Uganda by setting up a bra-bin, our other offices subsequently followed. Calling out for bras on social media, we received hundreds of donations which were sent away to women who desperately needed them. It was great to see local businesses taking part, for instance, Kleiser's of Holyhead donated their own (as pictured).

November

In support of Remembrance Day, Caernarfon Office created a thought-provoking and emotive display. Poppies were also on sale in the office.

Dafydd was back on our screens for another episode of 'Homes Under the Hammer' this month.

December

Our offices started to decorate their front windows at the beginning of the month, and the festive spirit was in the air! Just take a look at these windows.

Min Y Don opened up once again on the 15th December and there were a lot of visitors considering the wind and rain that day.

Holyhead hosted a fantastic festive event in aid of St David’s Hospice, now paired with Hospice at Home. They held a raffle and provided free mince pies and mulled wine. Donning their elf attire, they raised a MASSIVE £1,500. So the costumes worked! Well done, you all looked fantastic – and festive cheer is good for your ‘elf’!

December saw the first #TimIrfon Christmas Concert take place in Bangor Cathedral and it was a sold-out event. As a supporter of the charity, Dafydd attended this exciting concert in aid of Awyr Las. With close ties to Irfon Williams, this event was a great chance to reflect on his legacy, while enjoying some Christmas festivities.

Dafydd Hardy sponsored this years Lovelight Christmas concert in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care. The Bangor office sold tickets for the event and there was a lot of interest, as well as a host of exciting acts. The concert raised a fantastic £4847 for the charity. The concert took place on the 13th and was hosted by Tenovus patron Rupert Moon.

We hope you have all had a wonderful 2018, here's to a prosperous and healthy 2019.
