Local campaigner and fundraiser, Irfon Williams, officially opened the new Dafydd Hardy office on Bangor High Street on Friday (6 March).

The event to mark the estate agent's latest move raised £3000 towards the Alaw Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd through a charity auction and raffle.

Irfon, who is himself receiving bowel cancer treatment at Alaw Unit has been fundraising since he was diagnosed with the illness last year.

The Team Irfon fundraising campaign, run through North Wales NHS charity Awyr Las, has already exceeded the original target of £20,000 and now stands at over £66,000.

Irfon and wife Rebecca have also launched the #Hawl i Fyw #FightingChance campaign calling for cross-party support to change the Welsh Government’s policy and ensure that over 70 targeted cancer treatments which include drugs and specialist radiotherapy techniques become available in Wales.

Opening the Dafydd Hardy Bangor office, Irfon said: "I'm honoured to be here to open these impressive new premises on Bangor High Street.

"I'm particularly grateful to all at Dafydd Hardy for taking this special occasion as an opportunity to raise money towards a cause that is very close to our heart as a family.

"Through these kinds of fundraising activities we can raise awareness and support extra services which can really help to reduce the impact that cancer has on our mental health."

Dafydd Hardy's new premises at 156 High Street brings together a full range of specialist residential and commercial property services.

With 17 local staff, including 2 new posts created by the move, the company have invested in larger premises to enhance their presence in Bangor.

Managing Director, Dafydd Hardy, said: "Maintaining a strong presence on the High Street is very important to us. These larger premises allow us to offer selling, letting, property management, student accommodation and auctioning services all under one roof.

"We would like to thank all the local suppliers who have helped with the refurbishment and to our loyal customers for their continued support.

"As we celebrate this latest office opening, we would especially like to thank Irfon for being our guest of honour this evening. We wish him all the best with his treatment and look forward to supporting his fundraising efforts in the future."
