A surge in the demand for rented properties across north Wales has led to the expansion of a leading estate agent.

Dafydd Hardy Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents say this year has seen a record number of people looking for rented accommodation.

Responding to their customers’ needs the company has opened a dedicated property lettings office in Menai Bridge.

The office, which opened on November 1, has a team of experienced letting experts looking after the dozens of properties to rent on Anglesey.

Not only does the new lettings department help tenants find the perfect home they also offer a full property management service for landlords.

Richard Thomas, company director of Dafydd Hardy Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents, said the Menai Bridge office will help the company keep up with the demand for rented properties.

“This year we’ve seen an unprecedented surge in the number of both potential tenants and landlords coming to us,” said Mr Thomas.

Huge interest for properties to rent in North Wales

“It seems to be a national trend linked to the wider economy but Anglesey is drawing in more than its fair share of new tenants, probably because it is such an attractive place to live with excellent links to Bangor and Holyhead – and even Ireland and Manchester.”

“We obviously want to make sure we can offer the best service possible to our customers, which is why we decided it was time to have a team completely dedicated to the lettings market on Anglesey,” Mr Thomas added.

Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents already has offices across north west Wales, including Caernarfon, Bangor, Holyhead and Llangefni.

The new Anglesey lettings department will be located in Dafydd Hardy’s existing office on the High Street in Menai Bridge, which has been specially modified for the new team.

Specialist lettings office for Anglesey

Julie Roberts, who has been with Dafydd Hardy for over six years will be taking charge of the department, which boasts a wealth of experience including Debbie Barratt who has worked in the rental industry for 20 years.

Manager, Mrs Roberts, said she was excited to be taking charge of such an important part of the business.

“It is incredible just how much the lettings market has grown over the past 12 months,” she said.

“I think people are realising how convenient renting is, especially as nowadays people have to move around for their career a lot more.

“The types of properties on offer are also a lot more varied than in the past - we have everything from one bedroom apartments overlooking the Menai Strait to four bedroom family homes surrounded by countryside.

“Of course our success is down to the quality of the properties on our books,” said Mrs Roberts.

“And landlords keep choosing us because our property management service is so good, which is something we’re very proud of,” she added.
